What to do if a crypto swap is stuck as pending
First, wait at least 30 minutes before taking any action. Most swaps that appear stuck are simply slow - the network is congested, the exchange is waiting for confirmations, or the transaction is still being relayed.

Status: waiting for your deposit
You send from your own wallet straight to the exchanger — nothing to connect, no account, and you stay on this page throughout. Rates are indicative until a swap is opened.
The swap is carried out by an independent exchanger and the deposit address above is theirs. zebusolana.com never holds, receives or controls your funds, has no key to that address, and earns a referral commission. Opening a swap sends your receiving address, IP, browser and timezone to the exchanger for their compliance checks; we store none of it. Check their terms, fees and country restrictions before sending anything.
A pending swap means the exchange has received your deposit but has not yet sent your output funds. This is normal in several situations. Bitcoin, for example, requires multiple block confirmations before a swap can proceed. Some exchanges wait for 3, 6, or even 12 confirmations depending on the amount and the network. During high traffic, those confirmations can come slowly. The same applies to Ethereum or any proof-of-work chain during a gas spike.
Check the transaction on the blockchain
The first real diagnostic step is to look up your deposit transaction on a block explorer. Copy the transaction ID (TXID) from your wallet or from the exchange's interface. Paste it into a block explorer for that blockchain. You want to confirm three things:
- That the transaction was actually broadcast (has at least one confirmation)
- That it was sent to the correct address (the one the exchange gave you)
- That the amount matches what you intended to send
If the transaction shows zero confirmations after an hour, your wallet may have broadcast it with too low a fee. In that case, some wallets let you replace the transaction with a higher fee (RBF). If your wallet does not support that, you may need to wait for the transaction to drop or for the network to confirm it eventually.
Contact the exchange support - but only after the minimum wait
Most exchanges have a minimum number of confirmations before they consider a deposit final. Look for that number on the swap page or in the exchange's documentation. If you have waited longer than that threshold plus a reasonable buffer (say, double the expected time), open a support ticket.
When you contact support, provide:
- The TXID of your deposit
- The destination address you were swapping to
- The exact amount sent and expected
- The time you sent the transaction
Do not send your private keys or crypto-news-literacy/hardware-wallet-seed-phrase-phishing/">seed phrase. No legitimate support will ask for them.
Common reasons swaps get stuck and what they mean
Network congestion. The simplest cause. The exchange has received your funds but is waiting for enough confirmations to feel safe sending the output. This resolves on its own, but can take hours.
Incorrect network. You sent tokens on a different blockchain than the exchange expected (for example, sending BEP-20 USDT to an ERC-20 address). This is recoverable but requires the exchange to manually retrieve the funds. Support will ask for the TXID. Recovery can take days or weeks.
Low fee on your deposit. If your wallet used a low fee, miners may prioritize other transactions. The exchange cannot control this. Some exchanges will process the swap once the transaction eventually confirms, but it may take a very long time.
Exchange rate volatility. Some swaps lock a rate for a few minutes. If the deposit takes too long, the rate may expire. The exchange may then hold the swap pending while it re-quotes. This usually resolves automatically within a few minutes.
What not to do
Do not send a second deposit to the same address hoping to "push" the first one through. This can confuse the exchange and may result in both swaps failing. Do not use a blockchain acceleration service that asks for your private key. Do not post your TXID on public forums expecting help - anyone can claim to be support and ask for your private key.
When to walk away
If the swap has been pending for more than 48 hours and support has not responded, it may be a sign the exchange is unreliable. In that case, gather the evidence (screenshots, TXIDs, support ticket numbers) and move on. Some swaps fail permanently. That is the risk of using any third-party exchange.
The safest approach is prevention
The hub page "Swapping crypto safely" covers the checks worth making before you send any funds. Verifying the deposit address against the exchange's official domain, checking the network field, and confirming the minimum deposit amount are all steps that prevent most stuck-swap scenarios. If you have not done those checks before sending, read that page first. If you have, and the swap is still stuck, follow the steps above.
